ON SATURDAY, April 5, Dawlish Indoor Bowls Club’s men’s 2x4 team claimed victory in the final of the Devon County Charles Parrott (Unbadged) Competition, played at the Torbay Country Club Indoor Arena.

From a competitive field of 13 teams, they faced a determined Torquay United side, the Dawlish men dug deep in what proved to be a tightly contested match. At one point, Dawlish held only a narrow 2-point lead, but the team held their nerve and rallied together to pull ahead in the closing stages.

On rink two, Kelvin Carter, Colin Parker, Trevor Lobb, and Richard Chappell had a challenging game and were narrowly defeated 12-22. However, their determined performance and hard-earned points were vital to the team’s overall success.

Rink three saw a commanding performance from Lee Woldridge, Dave Chappell, Andrew Moore, and Marc Baker, who posted an excellent score of 32-11. Their strong showing ensured Dawlish secured an overall victory with a combined score of 44-33.

This was the club’s third final appearance in the Parrott Trophy – after falling short in the previous two, the third time was truly lucky for these lads.

The result reflects the club’s depth of talent, camaraderie, and team spirit. With players ranging in age from 19 to 81, it was truly an intergenerational success and a proud moment for the club.

Congratulations to all the lads for an outstanding team effort and for bringing the trophy home!
