THERE were close to 400 incidents of road rage last year, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed.
A total of 386 reported crimes to Devon and Cornwall Police mentioned road rage in 2024, the FOI shows.
This represents an increase from 2023, when the number was 288.
The number has been increasing since 2021, the FOI also shows.
And the number of road traffic accidents recorded where ‘road rage’ was a contributing factor was 89.
Dangerous driving offences are dealt with by the Magistrates' Court or Crown Court, depending on the seriousness.
If found guilty, drivers could be hit with an unlimited fine, a driving ban and up to 14 years in prison.
