DEVON and Cornwall Police received no reports of incidents of homophobia at football matches last year, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has shown.
The FOI also sought the number of reports received by Devon and Cornwall Police of incidents of homophobia at football matches in 2023, of which there were none.
The request also specified the number of recorded incidents of discrimination based on sexual orientation generally.
None were recorded.
It is worth noting that a hate crime could involve more than one hate type.
Also, the data is reliant on the accurate recording of the location of the offence.
The Devon County FA, the governing body of football in the county of Devon, says it is committed to avoid and eliminate discrimination of any kind in football, taking a zero tolerance approach to all forms of discrimination.
