A MAN from Newton Abbot who has committed more than 100 previous offences has been jailed after threatening to slit the throats of two teenage bakery shop workers.

Anthony Moss, 48, threatened the two Crusty Loaf employees last August, demanding the cash from the till.

Stealing £360 from the Torquay store, Moss told the two staff, a 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old woman, that he would slit their throats should they phone the police.

The two young women were left ‘utterly terrified’, Exeter Crown Court heard.

Moss fled but was arrested the following day after police recognised him from CCTV footage.

He admitted robbery and having a bladed article.

Judge Anna Richardson jailed Moss for five years and three months, saying the Newton Abbot man was a dangerous offender.

Judge Richardson said the two young women were wise to give Moss the money, but that thy were terrified.

Both women are receiving counselling, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.
