NEWTON Abbot has been named as one of the ‘vaping capitals’ of the UK as a study ranks it in the top ten most vape-obsessed towns and cities.

Research conducted by Haypp, an online retailer for nicotine pouches, vapes, and heated tobacco, determined Newton Abbot to be the tenth most ‘vape-obsessed’ settlement in the UK.

Haypp obtained data from Companies House, filtering active businesses whose names contain keywords such as vape, vapes, vaping, e-cig, e-cigarette, e-liquid, e-juice, ecig, or ecigs.

These businesses were then grouped by the city or town of their registered address to determine the number of vaping companies in each location.

Next, Haypp gathered average monthly search volumes for the most popular vaping brands in each location using Google AdWords

The company produced a list of the top fifth-teen.

Newton Abbot ranks as the UK's tenth most vape-obsessed, scoring a final 6.51/10.

The town boasts a vape shop density of 19 per 100,000 people - significantly higher than Plymouth's mere three per 100,000 residents, according to Haypp.

With 356 vaping-related monthly searches per capita, the town has a clear appetite for vaping, Haypp says.

Earning a final score of 8.88/10, Accrington claims the title as the UK's biggest vaping hotspot.

The Lancashire town boasts a whopping 39 vape businesses per 100,000 residents.

By comparison, Bexley is the least vape-obsessed in the UK, scoring just 0.87/10, according to Haypp’s research

With a mere 0.44 vape shops per 100,000 residents, this South East London town seems less engaged with vaping culture, with only 48 vaping-related monthly searches per capita.
