THE Starcross Bowls club family trio of Richard, Karen and Dave Chappell enjoyed success at the Devon County finals weekend on September 8.

After narrowly missing out on the title 2 years ago, the Chappell trio finally secured the title on the weekend at Topsham BC.

In the morning session, the Chappell’s edged out a Crediton trio in a very tight ‘nip and tuck’ game, booking their place in the final with a 20-18 win.

The final, another tight game, pitted them against a Barnstaple-based team. After running away with it in the latter stages, Starcross’ own prevailed by a score of 22-10.

Dave Chappell commented, “We’re really proud to win this title on behalf of Starcross Bowls Club. We’re a relatively small village bowling club with one of the best greens in Devon, we punch well above our weight in various leagues and competitions and are always looking for existing players and new players to join our fabulous club.”
