Teignbridge District Council began demolishing the site in January.

Despite backlash from conservation groups, the council went ahead with the demolition and, as of this month, April, bulldozers have cleared most of the site, which has been earmarked for housing.

The council hope for a housing development of up to 100 homes to be built; a deal with a would-be developer lapsed last summer.

The demolition was delayed due to asbestos, but has since got back on schedule.
