A GROUP of travel agents from Newton Abbot recently walked part of the Templer Way to raise money for a mental health charity.

Setting off from the National Park Visitor Centre at Haytor, the team from Hays Travel followed the popular walking route back to Newton Abbot, finishing the journey outside their shop in the centre of town.

The walk, which the team completed on Sunday, November 10 and saw them walk around 14 kilometres, was in aid of Mind Devon, a local mental health charity.

Hays Travel set an initial target of £500, but this was soon surpassed - the team has raised close to £1,000.

On its Mind Devon fundraising page, Hay Travel said: ‘We are deeply committed to supporting our local community, and contributing to local charities is a core part of our company values.

‘This year, our team has chosen to focus on mental health, a cause that has become increasingly important as more and more people face mental health challenges.

‘We believe in raising both awareness and vital funds to support those in need.

‘Mental health services are essential for the well-being of individuals and the community as a whole, and we want to play our part in ensuring that help is available to those who need it most.

‘Through fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and community involvement, we hope to make a meaningful impact.

‘Together, we can help break the stigma surrounding mental health and ensure that everyone has access to the support they deserve.’
