A FUNDRAISER set up in the wake of a Newton Abbot homeless man’s death is close to reaching its target.
Teignbridge CVS set up the GoFundMe following the passing of Mark Bounden.
With a target of £1,000, the GoFundMe has seen close to £900 of donations come in since launching last week.
‘As a local registered charity we are able to work with local charities, churches and faith groups to explore what might be a suitable memorial, that Mark would have considered appropriate’ a spokesperson for Teignbridge CVS said.
Mark was a familiar face to many in the town, having spent many years sleeping rough in Newton Abbot - making the area in and around Market Walk his home.
The avid reader was admitted to hospital after contracting sepsis.
After spending a short time in hospital, Mark passed away.
Tributes have poured in across social media, with flowers, candles and newspapers being left at the place near the Alexandra Theatre where Mark was often found.
