THE future of Newton Abbot’s branch of Poundland is uncertain as the company’s owner looks to sell the company.
Pepco, the parent company of Poundland, has appointed advisory firm Teneo to oversee the sale.
The Polish owner has said that Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ tax measures have made it ‘increasingly challenging’ to operate in the UK.
Poundland was more than 800 stores across the UK.
Its high street branches, including its Newton Abbot branch, could be axed as part of the potential sale, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.
At present, it is not clear what any future sale would be worth.
