FIREFIGHTERS from Buckfastleigh were mobilised to a derelict building fire this past weekend.
Initially, two fire engines were mobilised following a report of a black plume of smoke coming from a derelict building in Totnes.
However, upon arrival crews requested four more fire engines and a 4x4 vehicle to assist with access.
During the incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday [April 20] morning, crews used: two 51mm main jets; six Breathing Apparatus; four positive pressure ventilation fans; three smoke curtains; one light portable pump; gas monitors and small tools.
The fire was on the first floor of the building and as a result there was 50 per-cent smoke damage to the floor and 20 per-cent fire damage.
Firefighters from Buckfastleigh, Paignton, Torquay and Totnes attended the incident.
