SHALDON Wildlife Trust has teamed up with an accessibility information provider to help visitors with additional needs.
The popular attraction, which looks after and helps preserve rare and endangered small animals, now features on the AccessAble website and app providing detailed information about access to the zoo.
Trust bosses have worked with AccessAble to produce detailed access guides, allowing anyone with disabilities to check and plan a visit.
The online guides include facts, figures and photographs and cover everything from parking facilities, assisted listening, walking distances and accessible toilets.
It provides details about slopes, ramps and steps, heights of tables, types of flooring and aisle widths in the shop.
Zac Showell, trust director said: ‘We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important.
‘It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the guides have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.’
David Livermore, Director of Business Development at AccessAble, said: ‘We were thrilled to work in partnership with Shaldon Wildlife Trust to create a Detailed Access Guide to their zoo.
‘The AccessAble website will enhance the visitor experience, helping more disabled people to enjoy a zoo visit confidently.’
Zak added: ‘We want the zoo to be accessible to as many people as possible so they can enjoy a visit to the zoo, see the endangered species in our care and learn about the amazing conservation work we do across the world.’
