A total of 12 Teignbridge Trotters took part in the 3rd South West Road Runners Feighan Fury in good spring conditions with the going reasonable in the trail and road event.
The choice was road shoes for speed, or trail for grip and the runners went for different options (like formula 1 tyre strategy choices). Frequent hills were part of the action plus one ford to cross.
Sam Galvin reported: “It was my first Fury and it lived up to its name with twists and turns and passing the start again around 8 miles. There was a final loop of yet another steep downhill and uphill back to the finish. I came third in my age group so I was pleased with my result. Beautiful run, great running company and even with the hills definitely worth doing again!”

Trotters took home the 1st Men's Team trophy, with a number of prize vegetable boxes and some good age results: Alex Sparks romped home even with a shoe loss in the mud, the carbon slipper being worth retrieving. The post Seville marathon heavy legs being no more than a slight headwind for our speedster. Alex is confident he can demolish the box of veg including his go to snack, Swede this week - good luck.
The results were; Alex Sparks - 1st overall finisher and 1st male with an amazing time 1:05.48, Roger Easterbrook 6th 1st MV50 1:13.58, Ewan Walton 22nd 1.23.29, Chloe Olford - 3rd women overall and first in her age group 1:24.53, 29th Liz Nuttall - 3rd FV40 1:28.27, Roger Hayes, 31st 1:28:55, Neil Rutley 39th 1:31.16, Alan Kember 65th 1:39:18, Nigel Barnett 70th 1:39:54, Trevor Irons 90th - 1st MV70 1:48:43, Sam Galvin 115th - 3rd FV50 1:59.29, Cheryl Dunn 134th 2:15:02, from 147 finishers.

In Malaga, Andalucia Duncan and Kim Knight took part in the half marathon. A highly recommended flat event, Kim finished in 1.56.07 and 57th in FV50, 3548th, Duncan 1.34.11, 66th in MV50. 838th overall.
Nicky Swann and Kevin Tozer took part in Sportiva’s Escot Park 10K Trail Race, Nicky said: “A couple of choices for runners; a half marathon or a 10k (both with the option to bring a four legged friend). We decided against bringing the family pet (a diminutive dachshund with attitude and a strong dislike for almost all other dogs!) and went for the 10k.
“It was a fun trail course a bit lumpy and muddy in places, trail shoes a must and oh, a nice incline to finish! It was Kevin’s first race after joining the couch to 5k in May 2024. A great achievement having never ran before joining the club and he has recently moved up to social B group on Wednesday’s.”
Kevin said: “I really enjoyed the race. Thanks to the effort and support of the Trotters leaders, especially the couch to 5k for getting me started. It’s a brilliant program.” Both finished in 1:23:04.
