Westlands is a residential home in Teignmouth with an excellent reputation. It provides high quality 24 hour care in a beautiful homely environment with stunning views over the River Teign and Shaldon.

As an independent home it has attracted and retained high quality staff, providing a continuity of care that can be hard to find. Staff are chosen for their attitude, cheerfulness and dedication to care. Focusing on person centred care, staff get to know the residents, their stories, favourite pastimes and activities.

The Westlands owner Nigel Mallinson, is very involved in the day to day running of the home. Together with the Manager Alison Govier, they make a strong management team enjoying good relationships with residents as well as families and friends.

Westlands provides a very high standard of accommodation, comprising 24 rooms, all with ensuite bathroom facilities. The three cooks prepare high quality home cooked food. All meals and dietary requirements are catered for and served in the dining room or individually in bedrooms. Residents enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment from crossword groups, arts and crafts, discussion groups and singing. Regular outings are one of the most popular activities. These include trips to various beauty spots for coffee or ice cream or visiting local clubs and events such as the Alice Cross Centre.

Most residents come to Westlands through recommendations from friends or family who have had personal experience of the home. Moving into residential care can be a little daunting for some residents. Some chose to move in for trial periods before deciding to move in more permanently.

We work very closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that residents have the optimum care. We are in close contact with families to provide updates whenever required. Westlands Care Home is subject to continual monitoring and inspection to ensure the highest standards of care and accommodation.
