THERE was a terrific turnout for this year’s Nourish food and music festival.
Bovey Tracey was packed to the gills on Saturday as thousands of people descended on the town for a celebration of food, drink and entertainment.
Visitors could eat their way around the world and it was evident they were enjoying themselves trying to balance plates of takeaway food with hot drinks or something more refreshing.
A seating area in the town centre allowed some respite for the weary gourmet, where diners were regaled by Celtic music played by a uillean pipe and hurdy-gurdy duo.
Festival director Sarah James said: ‘It was sad the festival coming so soon after the death of Her Majesty, but I think it gave people a chance to get out of themselves, even if just for a few hours.
‘We held a minute’s silence at 11am to honour her which was very moving and everyone observed that.’
Music was provided by way of an sell-out evening concert by renowned choral group Tenebrae at the parish church.
Sadly a planned concert by jazz singer Sara Dowling was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Everything else went off without a hitch and stallholders were reporting a very good day’s takings.
