Soon to be joined by their colleagues from Ashburton, the Buckfastleigh boys deployed hose jet reels and a firefighting jet.

The officer in charge requested three more fire appliances and a hydraulic platform, which was used to gain an aerial view of how far the fire had spread.

The fire was soon brought under control.

‘Thank you to the occupier who was helpful throughout the incident and to everyone who patiently dealt with the closure of Buckfast Road’ a spokesman for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said.

‘The fire was confirmed to be accidental and no persons were injured before or during’ the spokesman added.
