A TEIGNBRIDGE fire station saw action twice in one day on Friday.
Buckfastleigh Fire Station responded first to a report of an out-of-control bonfire near Diptford.
Around 25 metres of vegetation was on fire.
The occupiers of a neighbouring property had expressed concern about the fire spreading to their oil tank.
‘We were informed by our control room that the occupiers of a nearby property believed that the fire was spreading towards their large heating oil tank so the officer in charge asked for another appliance to be mobilised due to the travel distances involved so we were joined by our friends from Ashburton Fire Station’ a spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said.
And while returning home, the crew were called to the South Devon Railway following reports of a railway embankment fire.
However, upon arrival the fire had been dealt with my staff.
