BOVEY Tracey’s first supermarket will open in December.

The town’s outlet of discount supermarket Lidl is to open on December 5 at 8am, the Mid-Devon Advertiser can confirm.

The Bovey Tracey store, which covers around 2,000 square metres and has 100 parking spaces, is among ten new stores that Lidl plan to open before Christmas, creating around 400 new jobs in the process.

Teignbridge District Council’s planning committee voted in favour of the new store in June 2023.

Opinion on the opening has been spilt, with some claiming that Bovey Tracey’s small, town-centre businesses will suffer, whereas others have welcomed having a supermarket offering cheaper prices close by.
