THE streets of Teignmouth were alive, alive-oh with  music and dance last weekend at the town’s folk festival made a welcome return.

After two years of covid-enforced breaks the event was able to celebrate its 22nd anniversary with a cacophony of bells, pipes, fiddles and drums throughout the town.

Saturday and Sunday  saw numerous Morris sides from Devon and beyond  taking to the streets and seafront to amaze residents and tourist alike with dancing dexterity and the ability to shake a  stick or two at close quarters, plus performances of live folk music and shanty singers.

Three live concerts at Bitton House were also featured in the event over the three days with music from Martyn Wyndham-Reid & Iris Bishop , The Wilson Family and The New Scorpion Band, while the town’s Richard Newton Hall played host to a Ceilidh  on the Saturday evening.
