BIRDS of prey, classic cars, prize-winning vegetables, pony club antics and the inimitable fun dog show greeted visitors to Manaton’s annual show and fair last weekend.
Situated in a south-east corner of Dartmoor National Park, the show venue boasts enviable views of the surrounding countryside with the 15th-Century St. Winifred’s church forming a stunning backdrop for the annual event on the church field and village green.
The show made a welcome return after a two-year covid-enforced absence and organisers were delighted at the turnout of visitors to the event.
‘The day went really well and was a tremendous success with people attending from all over ,’ said a member of the organising committee.
‘A fun time was certainly had by all. The show was officially opened by Alan our village postie and village nonagenarian Paulie James, a regular participant in the show for many years was presented with a lifetime achievment award.’
