TEIGNMOUTH Fire Station’s Crew Manager Russell Dean ran the London Marathon in a personal best time and hit his fundraising target for the Stroke Association.
Teignmouth Fire Station has posted a picture of him on their Facebook page along with the link to his chosen charity.
Russell says: ‘If you would like to donate to this great charity please follow the below link.’https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/russell-dean3
He adds: ‘In January my mum suffered a stroke, over the months in hospital I have seen first hand how important the Stroke Association is helping with the slow and painful recovery.
‘When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down.
‘And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough.
‘But the brain can adapt. The Stroke Association’s specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. ‘With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.’
‘I am pleased to let you know that I finished the race in a personal best time of 3hrs 47mins and more importantly exceeded my fundraising target for the charity.’
Russell set a target of £1,000 and by last Monday had raised £1,115.
