ENGINEERS with a head for heights are carrying on with work to stabilise the cliffs above Dawlish railway line.
Efforts are continuing along a 1km stretch of the line with work, which started in July last year, expected to finish in the spring.
Vegetation along the cliffs has been removed to allow for the resilience measures to be installed.
Network Rail has been working with Natural England on part of the site which fall within the Dawlish Cliffs Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Coir matting is being installed followed by 19,700 square metres of stainless steel netting, secured by 5,260 soil nails drilled to depths of up to 12m into the face of the cliff.
