A NEWTON Abbot café has thanked its customers for their support as it announces that it will close next week.

The Pharmacy Café says that after more than six years of trading it will close its doors on Saturday, April 5.

The café said there were several factors behind its decision to close, including the increase in National Insurance, business rates, rents and the economic climate more generally.

Moreover, The Pharmacy Café said the disruption to Queen Street had resulted in a ‘dramatic decrease of people coming into town’, which, coupled with what it described as ‘traffic chaos’, were also cited as reasons for the closure.

‘It is with great sadness that after over six years of trading and working over 60 hours a week we are closing our doors’ the café said.

‘Thank you so much to all of our wonderful customers and friends who have supported us from the beginning.

‘Sorry to all those we have been unable to tell personally.

‘It has been a ball!’ the café added.
