WITH firefighters often having to operate at height, practicing proper procedure is paramount - just ask Buckfastleigh’s firefighters.

The crew recently held drill night focusing on safety at height and in confined spaces, otherwise known as ‘Shacs’ training.

‘We used the equipment to enable us to traverse a steep bank under our own efforts whilst using the Shacs equipment as a safe system of work if the operative were to slip and fall’ a spokesman for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said.
