MEMBERS of the public who helped clear fallen debris from roads in and around Newton Abbot have been thanked by the town's police.
Storm Gerrit brought strong winds to Devon and with it fallen debris.
'Thank you to all the members of the public who assisted officers in removing debris off the roads today [Wednesday, December 27] after several trees fell in the strong winds and rain' a spokesman for Newton Abbot Police said.
'They say good things come in trees and it was such a re-leaf when a tree surgeon was stuck in traffic with all the tools required to chop the tree up' the spokesman added.
