A MAN suspected of smoking cannabis in a Newton Abbot park was arrested yesterday evening, Thursday.

 Newton Abbot Police Station reports on its Facebook page: ‘Today is #WorldBookDay but one male must have not read up on the legality of cannabis.

‘Whilst in Courtenay Park earlier this evening officers saw him smoking something that smelt very strongly of cannabis.

‘After a short run he was detained under the misuse of drugs act and found with more drugs in his possession.’

Newton Abbot Police Advocate, Cllr Mike Joyce, commented: ‘Right place right time. Policing at its best.’
