A RURAL policing team are holding a free bike marking event at Haldon.

Officers from Teignmouth and Dawlish will be on hand at Haldon Mountain Bike Centre from 12pm on Saturday, September 28.

Members of the public can bring their adult bicycles along to be ‘marked’ - added to the national cycle database, Bike Register.

Bike Register is used by all 43 police forces in the UK and aims to reduce the number of bicycles stolen each year.

The event is free of charge.

A police spokesperson said: ‘If your bicycle is stolen and is registered on Bike Register you are more likely to get your bike returned to you.

‘Please come along on September 28 to get your bike marked and meet the local policing team.’
