STAFF at Newton Abbot’s Pizza Cafe are busy baking for a fund raising drive in support of Rowcroft Hospice.

The bake sale this Saturday comes after restaurant manager Sarah Strickland’s husband Craig died of a brain tumour last year.

Sarah, who has worked at the Queen Street restaurant for more than 30 years, was supported by Rowcroft in Craig’s final weeks.

Staff member Ellie Thuell explained: ‘Rowcroft is very important to us here

‘The support and care Sarah and Craig received from Rowcroft in the last couple weeks was second to none.

‘We would like to raise people’s awareness of how amazing Rowcroft is.’

The event starts at 9am and runs until 11am.

As well as cakes for sale with a £5 suggested donation, there will be a raffle of prizes donated by local businesses.
