MORE than 600 kilograms of paper was shredded at a Teignbridge library's charity event.

Newton Abbot Library recently welcomed M & J Bowers LTD for its special 'Shredding Service' event.

The event saw 616.8kg of paper shredded by the company's 'Big Green Destruction Machine', which is to be recycled and thus saved from landfill or bonfires.

Just under £500 was raised for Libraries Unlimited, the charity that runs libraries across Devon.

A spokesman for Newton Abbot Library said: 'A great big thank you for your generous donations, and a huge thank you to M & J Bowers LTD for donating their time and resources to making this event happen!'
