MORE than £30,000 was spent by Devon and Cornwall Police kenneling dangerous dogs, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has shown.
In February 2025, the force spent £36,789, up from £27,848 the month prior, the FOI shows.
The figure is a sharp contrast from February 2024, when the force spent £7,672 on kennelling dangerous dogs.
So far, costs related to the Dangerous Dog Act has this year cost Devon and Cornwall Police a total of £64,637.
Devon and Cornwall Police received no additional funding for kennelling costs since the ban on XL bully dogs came into effect.
Since February 1, 2024, it has been a criminal offence to own an XL bully without an exemption certificate.
