FREEMASONS from Newton Abbot have gifted a local cancer ward with a cheque worth hundreds.

Newton Lodge 6129 were pleased to donate two hundred pounds to Torbay Hospital’s ‘Turner Ward’.

Turner Ward is an oncology and haematology ward with 18 beds.

It provides both long and short term treatment for patients suffering from cancer.

A highly motivated team, who have a passion to provide the highest standards of care to their cancer patients and the patients relatives, oversee the ward.

Master of Newton Lodge, worshipful brother Ian Adams said: ‘The money is going to be put towards a project to brighten up the nine side wards which are used for people undergoing long term treatment for cancer often staying for several months.

‘Newton Lodge are very happy to once again support Turner Ward as their services are so much in need now.’
