TEIGNMOUTH gears up for the start of its Christmas festivities today, Saturday.
The tree in the Triangle is up and decorated with a festoon of lights ahead of the official switch on event this weekend.
This year’s tree has attracted a host of positive comments and has been described as ‘impressive’, ‘lovely’ and ‘classy’.
Its decorations have been applauded for being an improvement on the previous year and a ‘tree to be proud of’.
This photo by Kate Lake shows the tree at its best.
Saturday’s celebrations will kick off with the official opening of the day’s events by the Mayor at 9.45am.
This will be followed by live music through the day from Diantha Sings, Isabelle Newton Music, duo Sammy and Ryan, Teignmouth Sings, The Liberty Sisters with Lindyhop dancers, Teignmouth Players and Red Rock Acapella.
There will be carols sung at 5pm followed by the Christmas lights switch on at 5.30pm with the Rock Choir rounding off the celebrations.
Father Christmas will be in his grotto and Scrooge will be in the town along with Chloe Aston and her musical bike performing throughout, and Colin, the Unicycle Elf.
