IT may be some months away, but a Teignbridge library’s Easter raffle is already shaping up to be something special, and there is still time to support it with prizes.
The raffle is being organised by Newton Abbot Library’s Tayla Stevens.
Tayla, who was the driving force behind the library’s recent health and wellbeing fair, which proved to be a popular event, is busy sounding out businesses to donate prizes to the raffle.
There is to be two draws: one for children and one for adults.
Asda, iBounce and Teignbridge Leisure are among those to have already backed the raffle with prizes.
Tickets are expected to be £1 and, all being well, will go on sale from March 1, with the draw itself to take place at the end of March.
The proceeds of the raffle will go toward Libraries Unlimited, the charity that runs libraries across Devon, including Newton Abbot.
The funds from the raffle will help cover the costs of the various sessions the library runs for free, whether it be ‘Stay and Play’ or ‘Bounce and Rhyme’.
‘I think people don’t realise some of the stuff we do here’ Tayla said.
‘It’s a lot more than books, we have lots of things going on here’ she added.
Newton Abbot Library is a true community space, with a cafe, community shed, rooms for hire, computers and more.
‘The raffle is also about encouarging people into the library’ Tayla said.
