A PARTNERSHIP between a local food bank and a Newton Abbot café and community space has officially got underway.
The Plot Hub CIC held its official opening at the end of February, marking the start of its new partnership with THAT Food bank.
The new collaborative relationship between the two social enterprises will see the Union Street’s The Plot Hub become not just a place of food, art, and local enterprise, but also for impactful social initiatives.
With the support of THAT Food bank, the Pot hub hopes to expand access to essential support services, host community-driven events and create opportunities for local people to connect, learn and thrive.
Founder of The Plot Hub CIC, Kris Hanson, said: ‘Our mission is to create spaces where people feel connected and supported.
‘Partnering with THAT Food bank allows us to amplify this commitment, supporting those facing food insecurity while creating opportunities for creativity, conversation, and community.’
Jean Patterson, from THAT Food bank, said: We are incredibly excited to have a presence in central Newton Abbot through this partnership with The Plot Hub, this collaboration allows us to expand our reach, connect with more people in need and strengthen the support we offer to the community.
‘Together, we can create a space where help is always within reach and everyone feels valued and supported.’
Mayor of Newton Abbot, Cllr Alex Hall, attended the official launch, fulfilling his duties by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
‘THAT Food bank’s commitment to dignity, choice, and community aligns perfectly with The Plot Hub’s mission to be a space where people come together, share stories, and support one another’ Kris said.
‘Stay tuned for upcoming events, initiatives, and opportunities to get involved.
‘This is just the beginning of an exciting journey toward creating a stronger, more connected community’ Kris added.
