TWO gardeners from Cockwood are to feature on national television tonight.

Cliff and Chris Curd opened their garden to BBC’s Gardeners’ World programme to showcase their vast collection of fruit and vegetables. 

Filming took place last September with presenter Toby Buckland.

Tonight’s BBC 2 show will feature the Curd’s garden at Middlewood which is now renowned for its food production and wildlife area with a ‘self-sufficiency ethos’. 

Open to the public for the first time this year under National Gardens Scheme, the garden includes greenhouses, polytunnel, fruit cages, raised vegetable beds, wild areas and ponds.

Cliff told the Mid Devon Advertiser that the garden, which they moved into 17 years ago, has been a long ‘labour of love’.

He said: ‘I had always had a passion for fruit and veg but hadn’t had the time.

‘We grow every type of fruit it is possible to grow in this country from pineapples to apples.’

On Twitter, Toby said: ‘On tonight’s mighty Gardeners’ World I meet Cliff - a fruit and veg self sufficient-ista. ‘The range of what, and how he grows it is fascinating.’

Gardners’ World airs tonight on BBC2 at 8pm.
