A free cost of living event is being held in Newton Abbot for anybody worried about making ends meet, concerned about rising food costs, household bills or increased mortgage payments as we go into autumn and winter.
The aim is to equip people to tackle some of their financial worries and feel more confident in being able to save on their energy or shopping bills or maximise their income.
Visitors to all the events will be entered in a free raffle and have the opportunity to win some energy saving gadgets.
There will be stalls offering information on a range of topics, such as mental health support and weekly food advice. There will be local wellbeing organisations, Citizens Advice, Teign Housing, the Water Care Team, DWP, organisations offering energy saving advice and support, Devon County Council Early Years & Childcare Services, training providers and more.
The event will take place in Newton Abbots’ Courtenay Centre on October 5th. It is being run by Teignbridge CVS in cooperation with Teignbridge District Council in response to the cost-of-living crisis.
This is the third of Teignbridge’s cost-of-living events which has seen more than 120 people so far. Around two thirds of visitors said that they received information and advice and knew where to go for help, with just over a quarter of visitors being able to take action based on the support received at the event they attended. People also reported that attending made them feel less worried or alone.
