A TEIGNBRIDGE fire station’s charity car wash has raised a record amount.
More than £3,000 has been raised by Newton Abbot’s firefighters, who held their annual car wash this past Saturday, April 20.
‘We are excited to say that this year, we have managed to raise our highest ever amount and beat our own targets by raising the colossal amount of £3060.96,’ a spokesperson for Newton Abbot Fire Station said.
The monies raised is to be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity, a charity that provides vital rehabilitation services to firefighters and their families, who may be physically injured or suffer from mental health related issues.
‘All of the crew here had an absolutely great time, welcoming in the community we strive to support in times of need - your generosity spoke for itself today, and we can't thank you enough’ the spokesperson added.
Newton Abbot Fire Station gave special mention to AJ Hair Clinic, who donated generously, as well as to the Pizza Cafe and Kimmies Food Bar, both of which provided much needed food to the town’s crew.
B&Q's deputy manager, Luke, also received much deserved praise, having donated vehicle wash and sponges for the event.
And last, but by no means least, the station gave special thanks to Wendy Noble, mum of Newton Abbot Fire Station’s very own Sam Hunt.
Wendy provided a variety of cakes.
‘Thanks again to everyone who attended the event this year - it was brilliant to have such a high turnout’ the spokesman for Newton Abbot Fire Station said.
