FIRE destroyed the engine compartment of a car in Buckfastleigh.

The town’s firefighters reported last night, Friday: ‘One fire engine was sent to a report of a car on fire on the driveway of a domestic property.’

They were called out at 8.36am.

‘On arrival crews confirmed that the car was well alight and extinguished it using one hose reel jet, a safety jet and two breathing apparatus.

‘The engine compartment of the vehicle was totally destroyed and the cause was accidental.’
