A POPULAR farm shop’s plans to relocate could soon get underway as an application to develop a new site is given the green-light by planners.
Submitted by the owners of Oinkers Farm Shop, 24/00767/FUL sought the provision of a farm shop, including new access, car parking and landscaping, at land at Woodleigh Junction, near Cheriton Bishop.
And Teignbridge District Council (TDC) have approved the application, stipulating that work must begin within three years.
The application ‘reflects a scheme that seeks to relocate an existing farm shop business’, the design and access statement for 24/00767/FUL says.
Oinkers Farm Shop was originally based at Longdown for 25 years, before relocating to Higher Fingle Farm in 2017.
The applicants wish to relocate the farm shop ‘to continue providing a diversified income and provide local fresh food to the area and provide additional benefits in the form of local employment, low carbon measures, biodiversity net gain and support to other rural businesses’ the design and access statement says.

Cheriton Bishop Parish Council and Tedburn St Mary Parish Council both voiced support for the application.
24/00767/FUL received more than 65 comments of support from members of the community.
The proposed shop at the new site will stock beef, sheep and arable produce, as well as agricultural produce from neighbouring farms, the design and access statement for 24/00767/FUL goes on to say.
Furthermore, the statement says that the site will benefit from ‘quick and easy access to local communities’, including Cheriton Bishop, Tedburn St Mary and Dunsford.
Parking will be provided on site for 44 cars, including three disabled spaces.
EV charging will also be included.
The scheme is also accessible by bike, and therefore cycle parking is included.
