MORE than 30 former pupils came together at the Richard Hopkins in Newton Abbot to share a pint, or soft drink, with their former school teacher - Mr Rooke.
Former pupils of Kingsteigton Secondary Modern gathered at the town’s Wetherspoons on Saturday, to reunite with Gerry Rooke, who was, once upon a time, their teacher.
Mr Rooke, who is 98 and lives in Bishopsteignton, met former pupils he taught in the late 1950s, as well as those who passed through the school in the 70s, one of whom was Kay Rhodes.
Kay described Mr Rooke as a ‘marvellous influence’ and somebody who had ‘lots of patience’.
