THE Widecombe Singers are gearing up for a concert at Leusdon Church on Sunday, October 9 at 3pm.
An afternoon of folk songs, the concert will celebrate the lives of seven local people: Charlotte Larpent, creator of Leusdon School and Church; Lady Sylvia Sayer, a campaigner for Dartmoor Preservation; Lt. William Bolitho, who was killed at Ypres in 1915 during the First Wolrd War; J.W Rowell, the architect of Leusdon Church; Sir Robert Torrens, who created the international Torrens Title Land Registry and, last but not least, Fred and Mabel Struben, who commissioned the church’s carvings.
The informal style concert will include brief talks on each of those abovementioned; there will also be tea and cakes provided in the interval.
The concert is free and everyone is welcome.
