DOG lovers in Teignmouth have complained that the ban on their pets visiting the resort’s beaches begins this Saturday, April 1.

Teignbridge Leisure has posted on Facebook a reminder that the dog ban comes into force on that day.

‘Remember that the dog ban on Teignbridge beaches recommences on 1st April.

‘Dog walkers, please take note of the signs when you visit the beach. Many thanks. Russell @ Resorts.’

One said: ‘It is sad, especially for us locals. It certainly can't be easy for dog owners who are wheelchair users at Dawlish Warren beaches as most of the 'dog beaches' aren't easily accessible.

‘Though with so many badly trained dogs with no recall, I understand.’

Another added: ‘I really don't get why they changed it from 1st May to 1st April you will be able to count the amount of sunbathers on the beach with one hand at best.’

While another added: ‘Ridiculous no need to come in to force till the 1st of May no one will be sunbathing till then.’

And ‘Nobody on the beach at this time of year - silly to ban dogs.’

However, others add:

‘Still got Back beach and part of Teignmouth beach to walk the dogs.’

And ‘They’re very welcome on The Den.’
