DOG owners will have to keep their pets off some of Teignbridge’s beaches from tomorrow.
From April 1, the annual dog ban comes into force at a number of beaches until autumn..
Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren beaches will be dog free until 30 September.
A spokesman for Teignbridge Council said: ‘We know that not everyone is a dog lover, so we want to keep our beaches as accessible as possible for our residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the summer months.
'There are still lots of places where four-legged friends are welcome over the summer, including the River Beach (back beach) Teignmouth, Ness Cove and Holcombe beach.’
In Teignmouth, dogs are permitted all year on the River Beach.
On the main beach, dogs are not allowed between April 1 and September 30 along the seashore between the slipway at Eastcliff and the Lighthouse at the Point.
Dogs are to be kept on a lead in and around the Den and Promenade.
At Ness Cove, Shaldon and Holcombe Beach to East Cliff slipway in Teignmouth, dog are allowed all year.
On Shaldon beach, dogs are not permitted along the seashore between the Clipper Quay and the steps to the beach approximately 410 metres south east of the Clipper Quay.
At Dawlish Town Beach and Coryton Cove, dogs are allowed along the seashore from the slipway adjacent to the Railway Station until 150 metres before Red Rock at Dawlish Warren.
But they are not permitted from the slipway to Coryton Cove.

Dogs are not permitted: lifeguard tower and groyne 3 on the beach and on a a 230 metre section of the beach, west of Buddy’s Cafe.
Past Groyne 9, they are banned all year.
Dog are allowed all year round on the section of the beach directly to the right of the lifeguard tower (tidal beach) and between groyne 3 and 9 on the main beach.
Around the main resort and nature reserve all dogs must be kept on leads, no more than two metres in length, all year round.
