JUST thirty centimetres of flowing water is enough to make a vehicle stuck, the fire service have said.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are warning drivers not to attempt to drive through flood water.

This comes as the fire service says it is experiencing a high number of calls as Storm Herminia brings heavy rain and strong winds to Devon.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Water levels are likely to keep rising, with roads becoming flooded.

‘Please do not drive through floodwater, especially where warning signs have been put in place.

‘Just 30cm of flowing water can make a vehicle stuck or even sweep it away.’
