A CONSTITUTIONAL club in Teignbridge has made a sizeable donation to the Devon Air Ambulance after a series of fundraisers.
Chudleigh Constitutional Club levied its 300 strong membership to raise more than £1,500 for the charity.
A cheque was handed over to a representative of the charity on Saturday, April 26.
The money was raised off the back of a fund-raising event held on February 1, as well as a grand draw, where £1,000 was raised.
Several local businesses, including Exeter Chiefs, Exeter Race Course, Lady’s Mile holiday park and many more, donated prizes.
Saturday’s entertainment was led by Tony England, from Dawlish, who finished in the top three in the final of ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ some 20 years ago.
He reprised his performance from that final with a selection of songs from Frankie Valli on the evening.
‘To help raise the maximum amount of funds for Devon Air Ambulance both Tony England and Dave from Backstage Entertainment (who provided the music and karaoke on the evening) provided their services for free’ a spokesperson for the club said.
‘A small army of people worked incredibly hard to make the evening a great success’ the spokesperson added.
