THE ever-popular and award-winning Rock Choir are set to get Newton Abbot buzzing on Wednesday December 21 when they perform in the town centre as part of the annual Mayor’s Carol Service.
The first notes will be struck outside the Clock Tower at 6.30pm with a range of traditional and modern Christmas tunes for the crowds to join in with.
The service itself will start at 7pm and offers an informal way of celebrating the true meaning of the festive season.
‘I love this event as it has real depth and takes place in the street at the very heart of our town,’ said Mayor Cllr Carol Bunday.
‘To hear the families singing all the wonderful songs we know and love at this time of year is just marvellous. I know that for some people the act of going into church is not perhaps a thing which comes naturally so on this occasion we bring the church to the people.
‘It’s a happy, lively occasion and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible.’
The service coincides with the last late night shopping event of the season with Santa in town between 6pm - 8pm, meeting his young fans and handing out free sweets.
