A CAR was deliberately set ablaze in a field near South Tawton, the fire service has said.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service despatched an appliance from Chagford after receiving reports of the fire on Tuesday, January 14.

Upon arrival, crew discovered the car abandoned in the field and the fire was ‘fully involved’.

A second appliance was soon called for, arriving from Okehampton.

‘The car was 100% damaged by fire and crews used two breathing apparatus, one compressed air foam jet to extinguish the fire which was believed to have been started deliberately’ a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.
