NATURE was to the forefront last weekend in Bettany Drive, Newton Abbot.

Residents young and old were able to learn all about the natural world as groups and organisations set up stalls to educate and entertain at Nature on the Green.

The event was co-organised by Newton Abbot CIC and resident Linda Robson, left, who runs a free local lending library. The day brought together local authors Rob Holmes and Chris Tetreault-Blay, and groups including Green Futures, Newton Abbot Seed Swap, the Elm Wildlife Rescue and Rehab group and the Devon Composting Network.

Linda said: ‘It was a lovely atmosphere and Orinoco the Womble was a surprise visitor.

‘The mossy carpet workshop was especially popular and we managed to raise an impressive £190 for the Elm Wildlife Rescue.’
