THE Armed Response Unit (ARU) were called to Teignmouth last night after a man threatened to harm himself using firearms.

Police were called by the ambulance service at around 4.25pm on Wednesday, March 12 following reports of a concern for the welfare of a man at Hollands Road, Teignmouth.

The man is reported to have made threats to harm himself using firearms, police have said.

The ARU attended, as well as several police officers, and the man exited the property willingly.

He was assessed by paramedics.

‘The firearms were legally owned so no offences were identified’ a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said.
