AN animal rescue charity based in Newton Abbot has put out an urgent appeal for donations of food.

ELM Wildlife has said it only gas enough food to last until the end of this week.

Based out of premises at Seale Hayne, the charity can have in excess of 200 animals, mostly hedgehogs, in its care at any one time.

‘It’s not an exaggeration to say we get through 70-80 tins of cat and dog food per day’ a spokesperson for ELM Wildlife said.

‘If you are able to help by donating, we urgently need any supermarket own label cat or dog food in jelly, they don’t like Whiskas or fussy Felix!’ the spokesperson added.

Deliveries of donations should be sent to Devon House, Ruckamore Road, Torquay, TQ2 6HF.

Alternatively, donations can be dropped off at selected donation points.
